5. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. These are small text files that your browser automatically creates and are stored on your end device when you visit our website. In the cookie, information is stored that arises in connection with the specifically used end device. However, this does not mean that we immediately become aware of your identity.

These cookies are set as so-called first-party cookies ("own cookies") or third-party cookies ("third-party cookies"). First-party cookies are set by the website you are currently on and are not made accessible across domains by browsers. A third-party cookie, on the other hand, is set by a third party, not by the actual website you are currently on.

Furthermore, the cookies are differentiated into technically necessary and technically unnecessary cookies. Both technically necessary and technically unnecessary cookies are set on our website in accordance with the following paragraphs.

a) Technically Necessary Cookies

Technically necessary cookies are absolutely necessary for the operation of our website and, for example, enable certain functions to be made available to you in the first place. These technically necessary cookies, which are only needed and set for the individual necessary online session, are automatically deleted after leaving our website.

The legal basis for the use of these technically necessary cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

b) Technically Unnecessary Cookies

As far as you have declared the corresponding consent, we use so-called technically unnecessary cookies on our site. The technically unnecessary cookies are mainly used to evaluate the use of the website and user behavior, to compile reports on the activities of visitors to the website, and to provide further services associated with the use of the website.

The technically unnecessary cookies used by us are explained in our cookie banner regarding their functionality, duration, and possible third-party recipients of the data. If certain third-party providers we use set cookies as part of the service they provide for us, this will be pointed out separately in our privacy policy.

The legal basis for the use of technically unnecessary cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR if you have given your consent.

You can revoke your consent at any time. You also have the option of configuring the setting of cookies at any time. For example, you can set your browser to inform you about the setting of cookies or to completely refuse cookies.

Java applets and JavaScript are also used in the provision of our Internet offer. If for security reasons you do not want to use these auxiliary programs or active content, you should disable the corresponding setting in your browser.

6. Online Marketing/Analysis Measures

We aim to design our website according to your needs and continuously adapt and optimize its usage for you, our user, through statistical collection via online marketing measures and tracking tools.

The use of our online marketing and tracking measures is based on your consent according to Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. a GDPR.

a) Google Analytics

As far as you have given your consent, Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Ireland Limited "Google", is used on this website. This includes the use of "Universal Analytics", which allows data, sessions, and interactions across multiple devices to be attributed to a pseudonymous user ID, thus analyzing a user's activities across devices.

Google Analytics uses "cookies", text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. In case of activation of IP anonymization on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. We point out that Google Analytics has been extended with IP anonymization on this website to ensure anonymous collection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking). The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can find more information about terms of use and data protection at https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or https://policies.google.com/?hl=de.

On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities, and to provide further services related to website and internet usage to the website operator.

The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is your consent according to Art. 6 Abs. 1 S.1 lit. a GDPR.

The recipient of the collected data is Google.

The personal data is transferred to the USA under the EU-US Privacy Shield on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision. You can access the certificate here: https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI.

Data sent by us and linked to cookies, user identifiers (e.g., user ID), or advertising IDs will be automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is deleted automatically once a month.

You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by preventing the storage of cookies through a corresponding setting of your browser software; however, we would like to point out that in this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

Furthermore, you can prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google, and the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser add-on. Opt-out cookies prevent the future collection of your data when visiting this website. To prevent Universal Analytics from collecting data across different devices, you must opt-out on all systems used. If you click here:  https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de, the opt-out cookie will be set to deactivate Google Analytics.

b) ActiveCampaign

The newsletters and/or email sequences are sent using "ActiveCampaign", a newsletter dispatch platform located at 1 N Dearborn, 5th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601, United States.

The email addresses of our newsletter recipients, as well as their other data described in these notes, are stored on the servers of ActiveCampaign in the USA. ActiveCampaign uses this information to send and evaluate the newsletters on our behalf. Furthermore, according to its own information, ActiveCampaign may use this data to optimize or improve its own services, e.g., for technical optimization of the dispatch and the presentation of the newsletters or for economic purposes to determine from which countries the recipients come. However, ActiveCampaign does not use the data of our newsletter recipients to write to them itself or pass the data on to third parties.

We trust in the reliability and IT as well as data security of ActiveCampaign. ActiveCampaign is certified under the US-EU data protection agreement "Privacy Shield" and thereby commits to comply with EU data protection regulations. Furthermore, we have concluded a "Data-Processing-Agreement" with ActiveCampaign. This is a contract in which ActiveCampaign commits to protect our users' data, process it according to its privacy policy on our behalf, and especially not to pass it on to third parties. You can view ActiveCampaign privacy policy here: https://www.activecampaign.com/privacy-policy/

If you do not want an analysis by ActiveCampaign, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message for this purpose.

Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR), which you can revoke at any time. The legality of the data processing processes already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

7. Use of YouTube

Videos from YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, represented by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, are embedded on our website. The videos are stored on www.youtube.com and can be played directly from our website. Thus, our website allows you to connect to YouTube. Normally, when you access a webpage with embedded videos, your IP address is sent to YouTube and cookies are installed on your computer. However, we have embedded the YouTube videos on our website using the "enhanced privacy mode". This enhanced privacy mode is provided by YouTube itself and ensures that initially no cookies are stored on your device. However, when accessing the relevant webpage, even in "enhanced privacy mode", a connection to the "DoubleClick" network of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, is established and your IP address is transmitted. This particularly informs that you have visited our website. However, these data cannot be specifically assigned to you unless you have logged in to YouTube or another Google service before accessing the webpage or are still logged in.

As soon as you start playing an embedded video by clicking on it, YouTube stores only cookies that do not contain personally identifiable information on your device in the enhanced privacy mode, unless you are currently logged in to a Google service. These cookies can be prevented by appropriate browser settings and extensions.

We have no knowledge of or influence on the possible collection and use of your data by YouTube. For more information, please see YouTube's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de&gl=de.

8. Links to Our Social Media Presence

On our website, we have links to our presence in social networks (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Anchor.fm). We would like to point out that these are only links that lead to our presence in the mentioned networks, they are not so-called plugins with which you could, for example, "share" or "like" information on our website in the networks. As far as we know, it is technically not possible for social networks to collect personal data on our website via mere links. Please refer to the privacy information of the respective network for the purpose and scope of data collection after redirection.

We would like to point out that when visiting the mentioned social networks, your data can also be processed outside the European Union. This can pose risks for you, as it could make it more difficult, for example, to enforce your rights. In the case of US providers that are certified under the Privacy Shield, we would like to point out that they have committed to complying with EU data protection standards.

Furthermore, it is possible that your data can be processed for market research and advertising purposes by third-party providers. For example, usage profiles can be created from the usage behavior and resulting interests. The usage profiles can in turn be used to, for example, place advertisements inside and outside the social networks that presumably correspond to the interests of the users. In general, cookies are stored on the users' computers in which the usage behavior and the interests of the users are stored. Furthermore, data can also be stored in the usage profiles independently of the devices used by the users (especially if the users are members of the respective social network and are logged in).

For a detailed description of the respective processing and the possibilities for objection (opt-out), we refer to the linked information of the respective providers. Also in the case of requests for information or the assertion of your rights as a data subject, we point out that these can be asserted most effectively with the social networks. Only these have access to the data of their users and can take direct appropriate measures and provide information. If you still need assistance, you can contact us.

9. Data Security

We strive to implement all necessary technical and organizational security measures to store your personal data in a way that it is inaccessible to third parties and the public. If you wish to contact us via email, we would like to point out that confidentiality of the transmitted information cannot be fully guaranteed through this communication channel. Therefore, we recommend that you send us confidential information exclusively via postal mail.

10. Use of Webfonts

a) Google Fonts

Our website uses external fonts (Webfonts) from Google Fonts. Google Fonts is a service of Google Inc. (Google Ireland Limited "Google"). These Web Fonts are integrated through a server call, usually a server from Google in the USA. This transmits to the server which of our Internet pages you have visited. Also, the IP address of the browser of the end device of the visitor to these Internet pages is stored by Google. For more information, please see Google's privacy policy, which can be accessed here: www.google.com/policies/privacy/

b) Adobe Fonts

Our website uses external fonts (Webfonts) from Adobe Fonts. Adobe Fonts is a service provided by Adobe Systems Incorporated. These Web Fonts are integrated through a server call, typically a server from Adobe in the USA. This transmits to the server which of our Internet pages you have visited. Also, the IP address of the browser of the end device of the visitor to these Internet pages may be stored by Adobe. For more information, please refer to Adobe's privacy policy, which can be accessed here: https://www.adobe.com/privacy/policies/adobe-fonts.html

11. Current Status and Amendment of This Privacy Policy
